Winter home security: keeping your home safe this season
November '24
As the temperatures drop and days grow shorter, the winter months often bring an unwelcome increase in burglary rates. With more people traveling for the holidays and homes often appearing more inviting with festive decorations, it’s essential to take proactive steps to secure your home. Here are some effective strategies to enhance your home security this winter.
1. Use Smart Technology
Embrace smart home technology to bolster your security. Smart cameras, doorbells and motion-sensor lights can deter burglars by making it clear that your property is being monitored. You can also set up smart locks that allow you to control access remotely, giving you peace of mind even when you’re away.
2. Maintain outdoor lighting
With longer nights in winter, proper outdoor lighting becomes even more important. Install motion-activated lights around entry points to illuminate potential hiding spots. Well-lit exteriors make it difficult for intruders to approach unnoticed.
3. Secure your garage
The garage is often an overlooked entry point. Ensure your garage door is in good working order and always keep it closed and locked. Consider adding a deadbolt or smart lock to your garage door for added security.
4. Don’t advertise your absence
If you're traveling, avoid announcing your absence on social media. Instead, ask a trusted neighbour to keep an eye on your home. You can also use timers to turn on lights or play music at scheduled intervals to give the illusion that someone is home.
5. Upgrade your doors and windows
One of the most critical aspects of home security is ensuring that your doors and windows are up to par. Consider investing in composite doors, which are much more difficult to break through than standard doors. Additionally, reinforced frames and upgraded locks provide extra protection. For windows, opt for double-pane or tempered glass. These are harder to break and offer better insulation. Installing window locks and security film can also deter potential intruders, making it more challenging for them to gain access.
By taking these steps you can significantly enhance your home’s security this winter. And of course, when it comes to windows, doors and smart locks, there’s no one better to help than EP Glazing. So if you’d like a free security review of your doors and windows so you can enjoy extra peace of mind for you and your family this cosy season, email info@epglazing.co.uk.

2024: our year in review
December '24
Thanks to our great clients and talented team, this year has been a great one for us here at EP Glazing. To celebrate, we’ve picked out five of our favourite moments from throughout 2024. In no particular order…
1. Taking our fleet of vehicles to six
More enquiries = more work, and more work = more people and vehicles. So while talking about the number of vans in the business may seem a little odd to begin with, for us it’s a sign of our growth, thanks to the trust more and more clients are putting in us. Our latest vehicle is also fully electric, something we’ll be considering more and more as and when we need even more vehicles.
2. Bringing a new General Manager on board
Talking about growth! With so much on, the management side became so busy that we decided to take on a new General Manager. With years of experience, incredible knowledge and great relationships with suppliers, Rich was the obvious choice. All new enquiries come through him now, so you can be sure you’ll be in great hands.
3. Becoming recommended installers of two prestigious brands
Big brands don't just choose any old companies to be their recommended installers. That's why we're so proud that ROCKDOOR and RESIDENCE have appointed us to be their recommended installers for our local area. Of course, we do lots of great brands and will never push a product that’s not right for you.
4. Continued repeat customers and 5* reviews
When you get repeat customers coming back to you and consistent 5 star reviews, you know you’re doing something right. It’s recognition like this that has to be one of our key highlights for the year.
5. Creation of a new showroom
With our product range expanding (thanks Rich!), we wanted to be able to showcase some of our favourites in all their glory - so we’ve been busy creating a brand new showroom at our head office. It’ll be officially opening soon, and we’re excited to be able to not only talk about how we can transform your home, but show you too! Keep an eye on our Facebook page to be first in line to take a look.
We’d love you to be part of our success next year, either as a client or team member. For all new product enquiries please email info@epglazing.co.uk, or if you’re an experienced fitter, we’d love to hear from you on the same address. Here’s to next year!

Make window and door maintenance one of your resolutions this January
January '25
Winter is here, and with it comes the chill. As the temperature drops, it's important to make sure your windows and doors are working efficiently to keep your home warm and cozy. With just a little maintenance, you can prevent drafts, reduce energy bills, and extend the lifespan of your windows and doors. Here are some easy DIY steps to keep your home protected this winter.
1. Check for draughts
One of the most common problems with windows and doors during winter is drafts. Cold air sneaking in can raise your heating bills and make your home uncomfortable. To check for drafts, run your hand along the edges of your windows and doors. If you feel cold air, it might be time to reseal the area. Use weatherstripping or caulk to seal gaps around windows and doors, which will improve insulation and keep the warm air in.
2. Clean and lubricate tracks
For sliding windows and doors, dirt and debris in the tracks can prevent smooth operation and lead to freezing or sticking. Clean the tracks with a vacuum or a damp cloth to remove dust, dirt, and grime. Once the tracks are clean, apply a silicone-based lubricant to keep the moving parts working smoothly.
3. Inspect the weatherstripping
Weatherstripping around windows and doors can wear down over time, losing its effectiveness at sealing out the cold. Inspect your weatherstripping for any tears, gaps, or signs of wear. If it’s damaged, replace it to ensure a tight seal. You can easily find weatherstripping kits online.
4. Check for condensation
Condensation on windows can indicate that moisture is getting trapped between the glass panes, which may signal a broken seal. While this may require professional repair or replacement, you can prevent excess moisture on the interior by using a dehumidifier to reduce humidity levels inside your home.
5. Inspect door seals
For exterior doors, check both the weatherstripping and the door seals to ensure there are no gaps. A door sweep at the bottom can help block drafts from entering under the door. If the seals are worn or missing, replace them to improve insulation and prevent heat loss.
6. Tighten hardware
Loose hardware on windows and doors can cause misalignment, making it harder to close them tightly. Inspect and tighten any screws, bolts, or handles to ensure your windows and doors are securely fastened. Proper alignment helps prevent drafts and enhances security.
7. Clear obstructions around doors and windows
Ensure that nothing is blocking the proper function of your windows and doors. Snow, ice, or overgrown plants can prevent windows from opening or closing fully and may damage seals. Clear any debris or buildup around your doors and windows to keep them functioning correctly.
Final tip: know when to call the pros
If you notice serious issues like cracked or foggy glass, or if the frame is warped or damaged beyond a simple repair, it might be time to think about replacing your windows and doors. And you know just who to get in touch with. Drop us an email on info@epglazing.co.uk and we’ll get you sorted in no time.

Find your perfect front door match this February
February '25
Much like finding the perfect Valentine, choosing the right front door takes thought, care and a little bit of love. After all, it’s the first thing you and your loved ones will see when you come home each day. The problem is, many people don't know where to start, and can find the whole process a bit daunting. So, let us talk you through how to find your perfect match, considering everything from style to security, to make sure your front door is something you’ll fall for again and again.
1. Consider the size
Before you dive into design or colour, the most important thing is getting the right size for your space. We can help with this, and will come out to your home to professionally measure up for you. If your entryway is non-standard, we’ll talk you through your options - there's always something that can be done. Don’t forget to think about the thickness of your door as well. Most front doors are 1 ¾" thick, but depending on your preferences, you might want something thicker or thinner. A thicker door often provides better insulation and more security.
2. Choose the right material
When it comes to materials, you have several options. These are our favourites, which we are proud to supply and install:
uPVC: A uPVC door is a durable, low-maintenance option known for its weather resistance, energy efficiency and security. It’s easy to clean, provides good insulation and comes in various styles.
Composite: These doors are incredibly durable, energy-efficient and low-maintenance. They’re also highly versatile, available in a variety of styles including options that mimic the look of wood without the upkeep. They’re resistant to cracking and warping, making them a great option for homes in varying climates.
Aluminium: Lightweight and generally easy to maintain, aluminium doors can be a good choice, though they tend to be less insulating than the others mentioned above.
3. Pick the style that suits you
The design of your front door will set the tone for the entire entrance of your home. There are plenty of styles to choose from, depending on whether you’re going for a traditional or modern vibe:
Traditional: These doors might feature raised panels, intricate carvings and decorative glass insets. They're great for period-style homes or for anyone looking to add charm and character to their entryway.
Modern: If you prefer a minimalist approach, modern doors are often clean-lined with simple details. Think flush surfaces, large windows and bold geometric designs.
Don’t forget to consider the glass components. Some doors come with sidelights (the narrow windows beside the door) or a glass panel at the top or bottom. Glass adds a beautiful aesthetic, but it can impact both privacy and security. You can choose frosted or etched glass to maintain privacy while still letting in light.
4. Prioritise security
Your front door is your first line of defence, so make sure it’s up to the task. When considering security, think about the material and structure of the door as well as the hardware:
Locking mechanism: Opt for a high-quality lock set that features deadbolts or even smart lock options for added security.
Reinforcement: Doors with a solid core or steel-reinforced features are more resistant to forced entry. If you live in a high-crime area, consider adding a security door or additional layers of protection.
Glass security: If your door has windows, choose tempered or laminated glass, which is more durable and less likely to shatter under stress.
5. Don’t forget about energy efficiency
Your front door plays a big role in your home’s energy efficiency. A door that lets in drafts can result in higher heating bills. Here’s how to ensure your door helps keep your home comfortable:
Insulation: Look for doors with foam cores or other insulating materials.
Weather stripping: Ensure that the door comes with high-quality weather stripping. Gaps around the door can allow cold air in during the winter and cool air out during the summer.
Low-E glass: If your door has glass, look for Low-E (low emissivity) glass, which reflects heat while allowing natural light in. This can help improve your home’s energy efficiency.
6. Select your perfect colour and finish
The colour of your front door is one of the most important decisions when it comes to curb appeal. A new door can instantly enhance the look of your home, so pick a colour that suits both your personal style and the overall look of your house:
Bold colours: Red, navy or deep green can make your front door a striking focal point. These bold choices can work well for traditional or contemporary homes, depending on the design.
Neutral tones: If you prefer something subtler, shades like black, white or grey can blend well with any architectural style.
7. Don’t overlook hardware and accessories
The finishing touches on your front door can make a big difference. Hardware, such as handles, knobs and hinges, should be durable and complement the overall design. You can go for classic brass, sleek stainless steel or something modern like matte black or brushed nickel. Also, think about accessories like door knockers, letterboxes or even decorative features. These little details can elevate the look of your front door and make it uniquely yours.
Final thoughts
Choosing the right front door can be a tricky decision. But here at EP Glazing, we’ll be on hand to advise you every step of the way. So if you've been thinking about it but always been put off, this Valentine’s is the time to get in touch on info@epglazing.co.uk.

Why spring is the perfect time to replace your windows and doors
March '25
With all the sunshine already this month, can we now say spring has arrived? Hopefully so, because spring is the ideal time to replace your windows and doors. Here are five reasons why:
1. Mild weather for easy installation
Unlike extreme winter or summer conditions, spring’s moderate temperatures make it easier to install windows and doors.
2. Boost energy efficiency
Upgrading to energy-efficient windows and doors prevents cool air from escaping in the warmer spring and summer months, meaning less money spent on AC and fans.
3. Better availability
Most people start to think about replacing their doors and windows in the summer, before winter hits. But by getting ahead of the game in spring you can expect shorter lead times, better product availability and often cheaper prices.
4. Improve curb appeal
A new front door or updated windows can instantly boost your home’s exterior appearance. Spring’s natural lighting highlights the beauty of your upgrades, making this the perfect time to enhance your home’s curb appeal and increase its value. Not to mention wowing all those BBQ guests.
5. Less disruption to your routine
Spring is a time when many people spend more time outdoors or go on holiday, meaning your window and door installation is less likely to disrupt your daily life. You can enjoy the benefits of your home improvements with minimal inconvenience.
To conclude
Spring is the perfect season to replace your windows and doors. Ready to get started before the summer rush hits? Contact us on info@epglazing.co.uk for expert advice, quality products and professional installation. Here’s to more sunny days!

Meet Dan, our new repair specialist ready to help
April '25
Dan has recently joined the EP Glazing team, heading up our new service team, where he'll be offering quality window and door repairs across Helston, Porthleven, Praa Sands, Mullion and beyond. But rather than take our word for it, why not hear what Dan himself has to say about his repairs, choosing EP Glazing and even his favourite pasty...
What do you love so much about Cornwall?
Being Helston born and still being lucky enough to live in my hometown, I love the feeling of community and always seeing a familiar face when out and about. With so much stunning scenery, I love exploring and discovering new locations in my role as a service engineer as well as with my family.
How did you gain your experience in window and door repairs?
Having always enjoyed working with my hands, I was offered an opportunity to join the window industry 11 years ago as a window installer. I carried out this role for 7 years and eventually progressed into service work and repairs as I enjoy the problem solving nature of the role.
Why did you want to work at EP Glazing?
Having worked with Paul (EP Glazing's founder) for over 10 years in previous employment, I was already aware of his passion for the industry and I have admired his journey from starting on his own to now having a successful and highly recommended business within West Cornwall and the local community. Due to their growth, EP Glazing have expanded their services to include repair works and when the opportunity arose for a dedicated service engineer to join the team, it was an opportunity i didn't want to miss.
What issues could you resolve for potential customers?
Having gained a wealth of experience throughout my time as an installer and service engineer, I have been very fortunate to work with a number of different window and door systems and 99.9% of the time I am able to successfully assist with finding solutions. This includes replacing mechanisms, handles, locks, failed glass units etc. even on products that are now obsolete. For the 0.01% where I am unable to find an immediate solution, I am able to discuss alternative options to provide a satisfactory conclusion.
Are there any restrictions to the repairs that you can make?
Sometimes due to the age of certain windows and doors, many parts may be obsolete. However, I am an outside of the box thinker and will always try to find a solution or offer advice on alternative options.
What have you loved most about your time at EP Glazing so far?
Even though my EP Glazing journey has only just begun, I have already been made to feel part of the EP Glazing family and it has felt so natural. One thing that really stood out is that there is no hierarchy and the whole team are seen as equals and are always on hand to help and support one another. There is a real family feel and the team meetings in the morning are often full of laughter, making a great start to the day.
Why should people consider repairing their doors and windows?
Repairing doors and windows is important for several reasons. It helps improve energy efficiency by sealing drafts, which can lower heating and cooling costs. Damaged doors and windows also compromise security, making it easier for intruders to enter the home. Additionally, keeping them in good condition protects the interior from weather elements, preventing leaks or drafts. Well-maintained doors and windows also enhance your home's appearance and curb appeal. Beyond aesthetics, they ensure safety by reducing hazards, especially for children and pets. Furthermore, properly functioning doors and windows can increase the market value of your home. Taking care of small issues early prevents more costly repairs down the line. Overall, in my experience repairing doors and windows boosts comfort, security and home value while saving money.
What is your favourite pasty?
Has to be a Gear Farm!

Why it’s a good idea to repair your windows and doors early
June '25
Your windows and doors do more than just let in light and provide access; they play a critical role in things like your home’s comfort, energy efficiency and security. Over time, however, wear and tear can take a toll. Here’s why it’s smart to stay ahead of the game and get those repairs done sooner rather than later:
1. Save on energy bills
Windows and doors that aren’t in good working condition can let warm air escape and cold, outside air sneak in. That means your heating has to work harder, costing you more. Repairing seals, replacing weather stripping or fixing damage can make a noticeable difference in your monthly energy costs.
2. Boost security
Loose hinges, faulty locks or cracked glass can compromise your home’s safety. A quick repair can restore the strength and reliability of your doors and windows, giving you peace of mind.
3. Curb appeal
Windows and doors that don’t function properly or look out of shape can be frustrating to use and make your home look run-down. Repairs can restore smooth operation and enhance your home’s appearance both inside and out.
4. Prevent bigger problems
Small issues such as broken seals or misaligned doors can often turn into costly repairs if left unchecked. Taking care of minor repairs now can save you from major headaches down the road.
At EP Glazing, we’re here to help the people of Helston, Porthleven and the surrounding areas keep their windows and doors in tip top shape. Contact us today for a free repair assessment on dan@epglazing.co.uk.

Can new windows help you stay cool in the summer?
July '25
As temperatures rise across the UK including Cornwall and our local area around Helston, keeping your home cool and comfortable becomes a top priority. In many countries, you’d just crank up the air con. But here in England where homes are designed for the cold weather, we don’t have that luxury. But could new windows be a smarter and more energy-efficient answer? Let’s take a look why:
1. Improved insulation
Double or triple-pane glass dramatically reduces heat transfer, meaning the warmth is less likely to find its way into your home in the first place.
2. Tighter seals
New frames and weatherstripping also stops warm air seeping into your home during the summer.
3. UV protection
Some glass comes with advanced coatings that block harmful rays, protecting your furniture and keeping interiors cooler.
4. Consistent temperatures
New windows help regulate indoor temperatures, preventing hot spots and drafts, and creating a more comfortable and consistent environment throughout your home.
5. Easy ventilation
If it’s just too hot outside, all you want to do is open your windows. But older ones may have problems like broken handles, stiff hinges and restrictors, stopping you from doing so. You get none of that with new windows.
Upgrading your windows and doors isn’t just about looks, it’s about comfort during both the summer and winter months too. Talk to us about the best options for your home with a free, no-obligation quote by emailing info@epglazing.co.uk or calling 01326 653291. But until then, stay cool!

Supporting the communities that support us
August '25
This month we’ve been busy helping out the wonderful people at YMCA Cornwall by replacing an old wooden internal door with a new sound-proof uPVC window and stud surround free of charge. This will help them create more usable space at their HQ in Penzance. YMCA Cornwall CEO Pat Woodfield said “I’m delighted EP Glazing have been able to support us by providing us with this internal window. It’s enabled us to move the offices and office staff here, and provide additional units of accommodation in Apple Tree House [where office staff were previously based] here on our site in Penzance.".
For those that don't know, the YMCA supports young people with a wide range of services including housing, training and more. So when they came to us asking for help, we were more than happy to help.
The reason we’ve done it isn’t for Facebook likes or pats on the back though. We’ve done it because we believe in giving back to the communities that have given so much to us. EP Glazing was born out of the frustration of seeing larger window companies charging through the roof for substandard work. We believed there was a better way. But we started with no existing customers, no brand or reviews and very little contacts.
However, thanks to the amazing local community giving us a chance and our team grabbing it with both hands, we’ve managed to build the business we always thought was possible. Supplying and fitting premium products at the very best prices.
So to those of you who have supported us, thank you. You are enabling us to give back to the wider community, improving the areas we’re proud to call home.
P.S. While we have no more charity projects planned in the diary, we will be looking to do more in the near future, so keep an eye out on our social channels for an announcement if you have a project you’d like us to consider.

Your quick guide to choosing windows
January '26
Choosing the right windows can improve your home’s appearance, comfort and energy efficiency. But with a wide range of materials and styles available to choose from, it can be confusing. So here’s a simple guide to help you understand your options - and of course, when you’re ready, we’re here to help you get the price and fitting experience.
Window materials
uPVC windows
Affordable, low maintenance and energy efficient, uPVC windows are the most popular choice in the UK. While durable and practical, they generally offer fewer design options than other materials.
Aluminium windows
Strong, modern and sleek, aluminium frames allow for larger panes of glass and slim sightlines. They are long-lasting but usually cost more than uPVC.
Timber windows
Timber windows provide a classic look but require more maintenance and a higher initial investment, making them a much less popular choice.
Composite windows
Combining timber aesthetics with modern materials, composite windows offer excellent insulation and durability, though they come at a higher price point.
Popular window styles
Casement windows
The most common style in UK homes, opening outwards on hinges and offering great ventilation and efficiency.
Sliding Sash windows
A traditional design often found on period properties, sliding sash windows open vertically and suit heritage-style homes.
Tilt & Turn windows
These modern windows offer flexible ventilation and easy cleaning, making them popular in contemporary homes and apartments.
Bay & Bow windows
Designed to project outwards, these windows add character, space and natural light.
Find the right fit for your home
Your ideal windows depend on your home’s style, budget and maintenance preferences. Here at EP Glazing, we can help you choose the perfect combination of material and design to suit your property. So if you’re thinking that 2026 will be the year you upgrade your home’s windows, drop us an email on info@epglazing.co.uk to discuss your options and get the ball rolling.

Window and door trends to watch

As we move into 2026, the window and door industry continues to evolve, with new ideas emerging around design, performance and sustainability. At EP Glazing, we believe in staying informed about the latest trends, but only introducing new products or features when they genuinely add value for our customers. Here are some of the key window and door trends expected to shape 2026:
-
Slimmer frames and bigger glass
Homeowners are increasingly drawn to clean lines and brighter spaces. Slim-profile frames that maximise glass area proving ever more popular, particularly for patio doors and large openings. While ultra-minimal designs aren’t always suitable for every home, we’re keeping a close eye on developments that balance aesthetics with strength and thermal performance.
-
Sustainability and energy efficiency
Energy efficiency is no longer a “nice to have” - it’s an expectation. In 2026, improved glazing technologies, better insulation values and more sustainable materials will continue to gain momentum. We carefully assess these advancements to ensure they deliver real-world benefits, not just impressive specifications.
-
Smarter security features
Subtle, integrated security enhancements are becoming more common, from advanced locking systems to discreet monitoring options. Any security innovation we consider must meet our standards for reliability, durability and ease of use.
-
Smart glass
One of the most talked-about innovations is smart glass - glazing that can change its opacity, tint or thermal properties on demand. Whether it’s electronically controlled privacy glass for bathrooms and offices, or solar-adaptive glazing that tints automatically in bright sunlight, smart glass promises a new level of comfort and control. While it’s still a premium option and not yet mainstream for every project, we’re keeping a close watch on how the technology develops and will consider introducing smart glass solutions if they prove reliable, energy-efficient and cost-effective for everyday use.
-
Textured and coloured finishes
Neutral tones remain popular, but we’re seeing growing interest in textured finishes and bold colours for both windows and doors. These can add personality to a property when done right, and we’ll continue to review finishes that offer lasting quality and low maintenance.
At EP Glazing, we don’t follow trends blindly. We monitor industry developments carefully and introduce new options only when we’re confident they meet our standards for quality, performance and longevity. If a trend proves itself - and makes sense for our customers - it’s one we’ll happily stand behind.
If you’d like advice on windows or doors that are built to last, our team is always here to help.

5 signs it's time to replace your windows this spring
March '26
Whisper it quietly, but is spring just around the corner? And as winter comes to an end, now is the perfect time to check how your windows held up during the colder months. If they struggled to keep your home comfortable, it may be time for an upgrade. Here are five signs to look for:
1. You felt draughts
If cold air crept in around closed windows, worn seals or aging frames may be to blame. Draughty windows reduce comfort and force your heating system to work harder.
2. Condensation between panes
Moisture trapped between glass panes usually means the seal has failed. Once that happens, the window loses much of its insulating power — and replacement is often the only fix.
3. Difficulty opening or closing
Windows should operate smoothly. If they stick, jam or won’t lock properly, it could indicate warping, balance issues or structural wear.
4. Rising energy bills
If your heating costs climbed this winter, inefficient windows may be contributing. Older windows can allow significant heat loss, driving up monthly expenses.
5. Visible damage
Cracked glass, rotting frames, peeling paint or water damage are all signs your windows are past their prime.

World volatility: how your home can help protect you from it
April '26
It feels like every time we turn on the news lately, the world feels a little more volatile. From the ongoing tensions in Iran to the recent disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, global events that feel thousands of miles away are hitting us exactly where it hurts most: our energy bills.
In early 2026, we’ve seen how quickly conflict can ripple through the global economy. When stability in the Middle East wavers, oil and gas prices don’t just 'move', they spike. For many UK households, this means watching the Ofgem price cap with gritted teeth, wondering how much more it will cost just to keep the living room warm.
But here is the truth that many homeowners overlook: you can’t control global politics, but you can control your home’s 'leaks'.
It sounds strange to say that a new front door and windows is a defence against international volatility, but the logic is simple. The energy you use to heat your home is a global commodity. The more of it you need, the more exposed you are to price hikes caused by events in places like Iran.
Most heat loss in a standard UK home happens through two places: outdated windows and poorly insulated doors. When your windows are draughty or single-paned, you aren't just heating your house; you’re heating the street. You are effectively forced to buy more of that expensive, volatile energy just to maintain a basic level of comfort.
By upgrading to high-efficiency double or triple glazing, you are essentially building a thermal 'fortress'. Here's how:
Heat retention: Modern units are designed to trap heat inside using low-emissivity glass and argon-filled gaps.
Reduced reliance: When your home holds its temperature, your boiler works less.
Financial shielding: If the price of gas doubles tomorrow, the person who only needs half as much energy to stay warm is only half as impacted.
Take back control with EP Glazing
We can’t fix the trouble in the Middle East, and we can’t stop global markets from being unpredictable. What we can do is make sure that when the world gets volatile, your home stays stable. Investing in new windows and doors from EP Glazing isn't just a home improvement project - it’s a strategic move to reduce your reliance on the grid and protect your bank account from world events beyond your control. Don’t let global headlines dictate your cost of living. Secure your home, save your energy and stay warm with EP Glazing.

Helping you get the most for your money in today’s world
May '26
When it comes to your windows and doors, we know that cost is always front of mind - especially now. At EP Glazing, we've built our entire approach around one simple idea: giving you the best possible outcome for your money - whether that means a reliable fix, a smart upgrade or a brand new installation. Here's how we put that into practice.
Repair first, replace only when necessary
Not every problem needs a full replacement. Our dedicated service team will always come out to assess your windows and doors with a repair-first mindset, because the most affordable solution is often the one already on your wall. From resealing draughty frames to fixing stiff mechanisms, we'll do everything we can to get things working perfectly again. And if a full repair isn't needed but things are looking a little tired, a simple upgrade like a new handle or a fresh set of ironmongery in a colour that suits your style can make a huge difference at a fraction of the cost of replacing the whole unit.
Transparent pricing, no surprises
If a replacement is the right call, we make sure the process is as straightforward and affordable as possible. We offer some of the most competitive prices on the market, and we're introducing new set-price options so you can see exactly what things cost upfront - no confusing quotes, no hidden fees, just clear and honest pricing from the start.
Quality that pays for itself
We only ever use the best products, and that's not just about performance - it's about protecting your investment. When you choose EP Glazing, you're choosing products built to last, meaning no unexpected repair bills or early replacements down the line. Buy once, buy right.
Lower your energy bills too
Great windows and doors don't just look good - they work hard for your home. Our products are designed to keep the warmth in and the cold out, helping to reduce your heating costs year-round. Over time, the energy savings really do add up.
Need more space? Think smart before you build
If you're dreaming of more room but dreading the cost of a full extension, a conservatory with a warm roof could be exactly what you need. It's a more cost-effective way to add genuine, usable living space to your home without the hefty price tag that comes with a traditional build.
At EP Glazing, saving you money isn't just something we say - it's something we plan around every time we walk through your door. Get in touch today to find out how we can help.

More space, Less spend: why an Equinox warm roof conservatory could be the savvy choice
June '26
If your home is bursting at the seams but a full extension feels out of reach, you're not alone. Thousands of homeowners across the UK want more living space — they just don't want the price tag that usually comes with it. That's where a conservatory with an Equinox warm roof comes in, and at EP Glazing, it's one of the most popular choices we offer for good reason.
So what is an Equinox warm roof?
The Equinox warm roof is a solid, insulated tiled roof system designed specifically for conservatories. It replaces the traditional glass or polycarbonate roof with a lightweight but robust tiled finish — giving your conservatory the look and feel of a proper room rather than a glass box bolted onto the back of your house.
Why is it cheaper than a full extension?
A full brick-built extension is a major construction project. You're looking at groundworks, bricklaying, structural steelwork, plastering, roofing, electrics, and often planning permission — all of which adds up fast. Costs can easily run into the tens of thousands, and the disruption to your home can last months.
A conservatory with an Equinox warm roof, on the other hand, uses your existing garden space and a straightforward base, with the structure going up quickly and cleanly. There's far less labour involved, fewer trades needed on site, and in many cases it falls under permitted development so you won't need planning permission at all. The result is a significant saving — often half the cost of a comparable extension — without sacrificing the quality of the finished space.
You still get a room you can actually use
One of the old complaints about conservatories was that they were freezing in winter and unbearable in summer. The Equinox warm roof fixes exactly that. With high-performance insulation built into the roof structure, the room stays warm year-round and cool when the sun is blazing — meaning you get a genuine extra living space, not just a seasonal storage room.
Whether you want a home office, a playroom, a dining area, or simply a place to relax, a warm roof conservatory delivers it at a fraction of the cost.
